Empties: My Drugstore Favourites!

Monday, November 17, 2014

Hello beauties! I'm honestly so sad that last Monday was the first Monday since July when I began blogging, that I haven't managed to upload a post on. I've been really struggling with the amount of college work I've had to do lately, I have an essay due for every lesson I'm doing. Completing four ongoing essays is not fun, I can guarantee you that!

Never mind that, onto today's post! I'm pretty sure that it's safe to say we all love our high end products, I know I do definitely do just as much as the next person. But sometimes, it's good to spread the love along to the drugstore, as I unfortunately cannot break into the bank for high end products all of the time. So today, I'm going to be discussing with you my favourite drugstore products which I cannot help but repurchase every time!

Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Bronzer in 'Light Matte'
As a girl with pale skin, in the summer bronzer tends to become my best friend. I'm not really all that into fake tan and so I do like a good bronzer to add a flush of colour to my cheeks. In the winter, I don't particularly want to over do it in the bronzing department however, and so this beauty is perfect for that! The product isn't richly pigmented but pigmented enough to give that 'natural' looking bronzed glow you want your skin to have. I find that this blends really well and only takes a couple of coats to give the effect that I'm looking for. I tend to apply this using an Avon cosmetics angled bronzer brush which works really nicely for me.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder in '005 Silky Beige'
Holy grail powder right here guys.
I unfortunately have combination skin and so tend to face the problems of both flaking, dry skin and bad, oily breakouts. To tackle the problem I of course moisturise day and night but I also use this powder daily too. I find that throughout the day when you reach the stage where your make-up is beginning to slide off and fade, your skin may appear oilier than usual. So not only does this powder keep my make-up set in place all day but with it being matte I also receive the even finish that I want for my skin. As I moisturise before my foundation, the powder helps to lock in my skin's moisture, leaving the perfect in between finish to my skin. Not too oily, not too dry.

Maybelline Baby Skin
I love this product, especially as a dupe for the Benefit Porefessional. I tend to place this onto my skin before foundation, just to act as a primer and to help blur out any enlarged pores in my T-Zone area. Some people are not as keen on how the product itself is clear in colour and has a slight silicone consistency to it, I however quite like this. The clear colour to the product means it has no effect to the tint of your skin and so blends in well with any foundation. The consistency of the product, I feel only adds to bringing and locking in your skin's moisture furthermore, which is something I definitely need on some days more than others!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in 'Light'
At first, I never really understood the hype about BB creams. To me they were a waste. Minimal coverage, if any at all and barely made a difference to my skin, I didn't feel as though I looked more awake at all. However, this product has definitely made me re-consider my feelings towards BB creams. The product claims to have 8 benefits all in one. It enhances a natural glow, compliments skin tone, SPF30, hydrates all day, blurs imperfections, oil free, looks visibly smooth and feels fresh. On the whole I do feel this is around 85% correct. I'm unsure as to whether it blurs imperfections but it definitely makes my skin feel refreshed and leaves it feeling super soft too! I actually use this more now than an actual foundation. My spots have reduced massively lately and so I don't really feel the need to 'cake' a heavy foundation onto my skin, this gives me just the right amount of coverage as well as adding a  healthy, looking glow.

Maybelline Rocket Volume Express
I always return to this mascara, without fail. Just as it says in its' name, it certainly does add 'rocket volume' to my lashes. I find sometimes drugstore mascaras usually clump easier and so you are left with a fair amount of residue on your lashes if you aren't careful but with this product, I honestly cannot think of a time that has ever happened! It separates my lashes really well, alongside the added volume. The only negative aspect is unfortunately the length doesn't last all day, although for me this just happens with any mascara anyway. I unfortunately just have very small eye lashes, it's inevitable that the length has to droop eventually.

Maybelline Instant Anti Age Rewind Concealer
This product genuinely works wonders for my dark circles, and I will tell you now.. as a student mine certainly aren't pretty! I also place this on any visible blemishes I may have and blend this in with a beauty blender, to create an even finish to my skin. The product contains natural ingredients, including Goji berry which helps to replenish and rejuvenate the skin. I sometimes think a concealer can strangely dry my skin up, bringing out the appearance of dark circles even more but this one blends in super well, with a satisfactory medium coverage.

So that was it for my drugstore favourites! If you haven't already guessed, I am just a little bit of a fan of Rimmel and Maybelline. So I hope you liked this post, have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments below! Also, what are your favourite drugstore brands?!

Until next time lovelies..

Sweater Weather Tag!

Saturday, November 8, 2014

Hello lovelies! So I know I've been pretty inactive from social media in the past couple of days, I guess I've just had a bit of a blogging 'stump' and sometimes we all just need a little bit of time to ourselves, I'm sure a lot of you will definitely agree with this! I thought I'd come back with a simple, tag post just to bring me back into the seasonal mood!

1. Favourite candle scent?
I have to say anything apple scented with hints of cinnamon and pumpkin too, I adore anything pumpkin scented!

2. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
For me it has to be a good cuppa coffee! My current favourites in Costa are a caffe caramella or a caramel latte.

3. Best fall memory?
I'd have to say Halloween last year when me and my friend Sarah began to become really close and bonded through sending each other really ugly selfies, it was just so funny! Or going to Starbucks for breakfast a few weeks ago, it was really cute and definitely put me in a 'cosy' fall-esque mood.

4. Which make-up trend do you prefer?
Dark lips and golden toned eye shadows definitely sum up fall for me.

5. Best fragrance for fall?
I say this all the time but for me it has to be DKNY: Be Delicious, the apple scent is just perfect for this time of year!

6. Favourite Thanksgiving food?
As a British blogger, I don't actually celebrate Thanksgiving but if I'm thinking of Christmas dinner then roast potatoes and stuffing are the ones for me.

7. What is Autumn weather like where you live?
Usually cold, wet and miserable. Although right now it's actually fairly mild with some sunny days but it has been very breezy lately.

8. Most worn sweater?
Currently, probably my forest green New Look jumper or my burgundy one with a gold stud detailing on the shoulders from

9. Must have nail polish for fall?
If I'm being honest, I'm actually not that big into nails but I do like anything burgundy or even white is a nice, simple colour for this time of year.

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?
I'd have to go with jumping in leaf piles, I'm always so tempted to walk over any leaves when I pass them. I just love the crunchy noise they make when you walk over them, strange.. I know!

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?
I love both but if I'm going for comfort then leggings all the way!

12. Combat boots or Uggs?
Combat boots, definitely!

13. Is Pumpkin Spice worth the hype?
If you read my blog regularly then you'll know that I have been in love with the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte throughout the entire fall season.

14. Favourite fall TV show?
I actually don't watch TV. Currently I'm watching 'The Face - Series 2'. 'The X Factor' and 'The Biggest Loser USA'. A very mixed bunch, I know haha!

15. What song really gets you into the fall spirit?
Anything Taylor Swift, particularly from her 'Red' album.

Now that's it to this post, I really hope you enjoyed this. I tag Ffion, Cece, Elizabeth and Carolin to do this tag and of course anyone else who wishes to give it a go! Let me know in the comments what has been your favourite thing so far about the fall?

Until next time..

Outfit Details:
Jacket: George @ Asda
Jumper: Topshop
Skirt: H&M
Shoes: Topshop

With it being a rather mild winter this year, I thought I would show you a little outfit suggestion for Bonfire night! I opted for a cosy, embellished jumper topped with a denim jacket and a nice, fitting bodycon skirt. I felt the outfit looked like I tried with the embellishment and the use of layers yet it was so simple and comfy which to me, comfort is something you want when you're standing around watching fireworks. To complete the look, I opted for a simple, smoky eye and finished with some loose, fitting, messy braids just to bring everything together and still keeping it casual.

I hope you liked this outfit! Let me know what your plans for bonfire night are this year in the comments below!

Until next time,

October Favourites

Saturday, November 1, 2014

I say this literally every month, but can you believe that October is over already? Christmas is literally around the corner ahhhh I cannot wait! As I'm writing this I am actually about to get ready to go and see a Christmas light switch on, how mad is that?! This month I have been getting into the 'fall' mood and I think that definitely shows through the products I have been loving, prepare yourself for splashes of tartan, deep coloured lips and the essence of pumpkin!

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub - First off can we just talk about the smell of this?! I must admit the smell of candy floss alongside the taste of bubblegum definitely won me over! You just apply this to your lips before applying a coat of lip balm, I tend to do this at night as you don't really one sugary coats of lipstick on your lips during the day! The product removes any dry skin cells and leaves your lips feeling silky smooth, an absolute must for me during the colder months!

Naked 2 Basics - This palette has honestly become part of my daily routine I love it that much. I just think the colours are stunning and if you've been reading my recent posts then you'll know that I can't get enough of 'Skimp and 'Stark'. I have a review comparing this palette to the original palette if you would like to check that out then you can here.

MUA Lipstick in 'Raven' - I have heard a lot of good reviews about the MUA lipsticks and I have honestly never tried anything from their range before. But for some reason I just really wanted to try out a black lipstick, I guess the whole Halloween craze of the month drawn me towards it and I actually really like it. It's daring but different. For a £1 you cannot go wrong, it is a little bit smudgy but has amazing pigmentation and is surprisingly long lasting actually!

Topshop Lip Bullet in 'Wine Gum' - I've actually mentioned this in a couple of my recent posts, I just feel that dark lip colours are perfect for this time of year. I know everybody is always in love with a timeless, classic red lipstick but I like to be a little experimental as we move into the A/W months. The lipstick is a lovely, deep purple colour with amazing pigmentation and staying power. Quite like the MUA lipstick it can smudge if you aren't careful but can't most lipsticks?!

Tartan Scarves - I think literally anything tartan is just absolutely perfect for this time of the year but you can simply never go wrong with a scarf! I just love the feeling of how it's now acceptable to leave the house feeling really cosy and a scarf is just the best and most easiest way to slowly ease yourself into the cosiest time of the year; winter! Mine was actually a birthday present given to me last year but you can buy these pretty much anywhere!

Topshop Brogues - My love for these shoes is actually ridiculous. I've worn them pretty much everyday since I bought them, you will have seen them in pretty much every outfit post I have uploaded lately. I think they're so classy looking yet so simple and because they're plain black they go with everything! They are also a really good dupe for the Doc Marten shoes because I don't know about you but I'd much rather pay £48 for a pair of shoes than about £100!! These are super comfy too, so if you're in a Topshop anytime soon I definitely recommend you try them out!

Pumpkin Spice Candle - Unfortunately there's no brand for this candle, my mum seen it when she was out and about shopping but it literally smells like a Starbucks PSL. I'm not even kidding, for a fairly cheap candle the smell of this is so strong, quite like the Yankee Candles. Before I had even lit this candle I had the occasional whiff of it now and then just from being sat in my room. If you didn't already know I am a lover of pretty much anything pumpkin! Pumpkin cake, PSL, glazed pumpkin seeds, pumpkin scented candles.. seriously just everything! So this month has been a fairly pleasant one for me I must say!

So that has been everything that I have been loving throughout the month of October. Have you liked anything I have? Have you tried out a new beauty product this month? Recommend them to me in the comments below! I hope you liked this post and had a great Halloween yesterday! What did you all dress up as?!

Until next time..
