Isn't love just crate?!

Friday, January 30, 2015

Men. They really are the real life alien's of a woman's world. Even that old saying goes "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" Another known fact to take note of is Venus is the Goddess of love, with Valentine's day just around the corner I've partnered up with a really exciting company called Man Crates. Man Crates create awesome gifts in crates for the men of the world to enjoy all things in life that may be considered 'manly'. These may range from poker and whiskey crates all the way to teaching men in the ways of surviving a zombie apocalypse. And the even funnier part about all of these is of course you open the crates with a crowbar, men unfortunately are not into pretty little ribbons and bows. And so here is where us women get into it!

Man Crates are asking a handful of bloggers to share their ideas as to what they would include in a 'Date Crate'. The idea of a date crate is for us female citizens of Venus to teach men in the ways of winning a woman's heart. For Valentine's day, Man Crates are launching the date crate collection, to allow men to receive a crate full of items perfect for him to have a successful date.

I have been chosen to select 5 items, I would include in my date crate for a man. I have chosen the theme of a date night on the couch at home. Cute, cosy and maybe even a cheeky little bit intimate.

Now in my eyes, you can't go wrong with a good set of films. On the whole it's true us women do tend to like a good RomCom, although I wouldn't shy away from a good comedy or an action/adventure film. Although, I'm sorry but horror just isn't my thing. If it's full of gore, I'm not a fan.

Being the chocoholic I am, I certainly wouldn't shy away from a good posh box of choccies! Tying in with this, flowers are often another good choice especially if like me you're obsessed with room decor or just anything that will spruce a room up a little bit. But of course, flowers would just die in the box. So to solve this, my perfect date crate would include a gift voucher for some flowers from a posh florist, not the corner shop bought ones men usually opt for.. Candles would also be another perfect option!!

Then of course, you can't forget a good bottle of drink to share between the two of you. I'm actually quite fussy when it comes to drink. I cannot stomach a bottle of wine nor a beer/lager. I just think it tastes disgusting and with wine, it smells it too! I'm more of a spirits/whiskey lass, I clearly must take after my dad.

Lastly, every date crate should include a good bottle of aftershave/deodorant. After all, no girl wants their man smelling nasty when they lean in for a kiss!! Pacco Rabanne 1 million seems to be a popular one and it's definitely one of my favourites!

And so that is the top five items I would put into a movie night date crate, the ideas however are endless! You could throw in a pair of onesies, a hot chocolate set with mugs and marshmallows or even a nice tie if you want your man to make a little more of an effort on the appearance front! I hope you liked this post, let me know in the comments below what your ideal man crate would include for a perfect date with your man! Until next time..

Have you ever been on a date with an unprepared man?

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger!

Monday, January 26, 2015

Why hello there, you lovely lot! Today's post is a little different than usual but I thought it would be fun to share with you my biggest beauty bad habits. Wow that's a mouthful... But anyway, I'm sure we all have one or two beauty sins that we can relate too so, sit back, grab a cuppa and a biscuit and enjoy laughing at my shameful beauty behaviour.

Collecting Franchise Bags
This sounds really strange I know.. But in Manchester to my knowledge there isn't any franchise beauty stores that I know of in the area. So when I have visited London and finally had the chance to go into a Benefit store or a MAC store I actually keep the bags as decor in my room. I still have my receipts from the first time I visited the Benefit store as they wrote my name on them! I have bags from Benefit, MAC, VS Pink, Victoria's Secret, M&M's World and Space NK.

To be honest, I am naturally quite a lazy person anyway but I am especially lazy when it comes to my make-up. Forcing myself to clean my make-up brushes isn't the easiest task in the world. I aim to do them once a week but a lot of the time sometimes this may stretch to two! Which is really bad, I know!!

Another natural trait of mine is hoarding. I honestly keep everything. I still have birthday cards from my 5th birthday lurking around in a draw full of birthday cards in my room. When it comes to make-up, I am the same. I definitely look past the sell by dates on my make-up. I still have a couple of lip balms from a couple of years ago, they seem fine to me but to the rest of the world. I know that is completely disgusting.

Under The Influence
The blogosphere is definitely influential for me. People post countless reviews day in and day out and if they've been written well enough and the photographs ooze every bit of beauty out of the product then that's it I am sold. I will make it top of my list of beauty bits to buy and within a month I'll most likely own it.

Believe In The Hype
Quite similar to the above, if a product is hyped up about that much I will feel the need to have it in my life. The perfect example would be the other day I made a cheeky MAC order and of course Velvet Teddy was on the list. I have been into Selfridge's countless times and it is constantly out of stock, but of course with how hyped up it is I will buy it one way or another.

I'm a Youtube Star?!
No, I'm not. But between me, my bedroom and my camera I am. There has been countless times I have been that bored I have sat there and filmed some kind of YouTube video whether that be a morning routine, beauty tutorial or my make-up collection and storage at some point I have filmed it. Watched it back and naturally deleted it.

I Buy To Blog
Well, don't we all? One of my worst habits when it comes to beauty shopping is thinking in the back of my mind "Hey Toni, you could definitely include this on your blog!" Whether that may be a make-up look or a review, that thought tends to cross my mind many times let me tell you.

Personal Pressure
Now last but not least comes the added pressure I pile upon myself immensely. As a beauty and fashion blogger, I feel my make-up should look good all the time or my outfit has to look nice. Of course, that will not always happen. There has been many a time when I've had a bad make-up day or I'm not really liking my outfit as I threw it on in a rush. But as in the back of my mind I know I'm there writing to people how to create a look or acting as if I know what I'm talking about when it comes to fashion and beauty then naturally I criticise my appearance harshly on a day to day basis.

So that was just a few little beauty bad habits I could come up with which I tend to carry out on probably a weekly basis.. oops! I hope you liked this post lovelies and let me know if you could relate to any in the comments! Until next time,

What is your biggest beauty bad habit?

The only colour palette you need in your life..

Monday, January 19, 2015

Hello you lovely lot! How are you all? Today I'm going to be sharing with you a palette that I picked up last month for only A FIVER!! Yes, that's right I really did just say these 80 colourful eyeshadows only cost me £5! It was honestly such a bargain, let me tell you. I actually bought this palette on a whim in George at Asda. I had around £10 left out of my Christmas and birthday money and decided to take a chance on this beauty and I am so glad that I did.

The palette features a complete array of colours, from golden browns to bright blues it really has become the most versatile palette I have ever owned. This palette is the Eyetab from The Colour Workshop created by Mark Wins Beauty. If you're wondering why it's called 'Eyetab' well it's actually shaped like an I-Pad, it even has the imprint at the bottom of the palette where the circular button would be which I think is super cute! From what I have researched it is virtually impossible snapping this up online if you're from the UK, so I'd recommend visiting your nearest George store and having a little nosy! For my international readers I managed to find this on Poshmark and Amazon so feel free to check those out!

My favourite shades from the palette have got to be 'Enchanted' which is a gorgeous, soft baby pink colour. All of the pink shades in this palette would make amazing dupes for the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. Secondly 'Dream' is a lovely, latte pale golden brown colour which works really well as a highlight for the inner corner and halfway across the lid. I've also been loving 'Siren' which is once again another beautifully pink/red toned shade which is halfway between being a deep pink or a pale burgundy which is such an unusual colour, I love it!

On the whole, the pigmentation of these shades is amazing, as you can see from the look I created below using the shades 'Dream' as I mentioned earlier, 'Sensation' which is a pale toned brown, this would make a good dupe for 'Cover' in the Naked 2 Basics palette and 'Spoiled' which is a lovely bright aqua toned blue which makes for a great pop of colour to the lower lash line. The colour pay off is fantastic. I was slightly worried that with the more colourful shades there may be a lot of colour fall out but I was far from wrong, with a primer these shades have lasted me all day! They feel super soft and smooth too when applying them to the lid which is definitely a bonus. With this palette only being £5 I was worried the quality of these shadows may not be that great, I was especially worried that they may crease but using a primer has definitely helped to ensure that doesn't happen. My favourites are the Benefit Stay Don't Stray and the MAC Paintpot in 'Painterly'.

Products used:
Benefit Porefessional
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light
Time Balm Concealer in Medium/Dark
MAC Painpot in Painterly
Mark Wins Beauty Eye-Tab Palette
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Light Vanilla
NARS Translucent Powder in Crystal
Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Bronzer in Light Matte
Lush Lip Scrub The Kiss
Baby Lips in Smoothing Cherry
Benefit Watts Up

So I hope that you liked this post, this has definitely been a bargain purchase for me! Have any of you ever tried out any Mark Wins products before? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time, lovelies!

Have you grabbed any bargains recently?

What Blogging Has Taught Me

Monday, January 12, 2015

Hello everyone! How are you all? Have you enjoyed your first week back at school or work? It has certainly been a struggle having to wake up at 6am when my body is still in Christmas mode, Winter break always seems to mess up my sleeping pattern! In today's post I just thought I would share with you a few things that I have learnt throughout my journey as a blogger. Last Wednesday actually marked the 6 month anniversary of Clarke Couture and it has changed so much since then. To be honest, I do still class myself as a new blogger and I probably will do until I have been blogging for at least a year. But I have learnt a fair few things throughout my journey from a pink Barbie inspired beginning to the classy black and white path I am currently walking along now.

Customising your header can honestly make such a difference. It isn't even that complicated to make one, if you don't have Photoshop then PicMonkey is a great alternative, I made my header using that and it honestly makes such a big difference. Just go to the create selection and select Facebook cover photo and go ahead and design!

Clarke Couture in November 2014

Clarke Couture now!

As mentioned before PicMonkey is another great alternative to Photoshop for this one. The first image included in your post is always the most important one. It's the first image your viewers see of course. Then especially on Bloglovin the first image included in your post is used as your thumbnail, people then notice this before they even open your post. If you haven't got an interesting or great image, people may be less likely to read your post.

2 of my first ever posts! I'm honestly ashamed looking at these now!!

My 3 most recent posts, as you can see thumbnails make a HUGE difference!

Interesting Post Titles
Now, you don't need to be as clever as a brain surgeon to think of a good title. To make the decision to become a blogger you must have a fair amount of natural creativity, so why not use this?! In the past I have called my posts the most boring names it's untrue, I have just blandly said this is what I'm posting about straight away in the title. Don't let your title give it away, the image will do the talking for you! For example if I had named my New Year's resolutions post "My New Year's Resolutions" rather than "Don't Wish For It, Work For It" people would have probably been less intrigued. And as it stands, that became my most popular post to date!

Good Blog Layout
Now, I know mine isn't the greatest. I'm still only using the standard 'Watermark' template from Blogger. But I have discovered you can buy some really nice templates on Etsy for actually a really good price. These are completely customisable as well, you can change the headers and the profile picture etc. I'm still not quite sure where I want to go with the layout of my blog but I feel as though there is something missing to it.

Blog Signature
I actually only recently just added mine but I can already see the professional difference it makes to the look of your blog. I also think it adds quite a nice personal touch too as this is something unique to you and your blog. You can create your signature on PicMonkey, this is how I did mine and it's honestly super easy. I found a really useful post on how to create and upload a blog signature to your blog here.

Customised Blog Domain
Yet again, something I haven't got for my blog yet but I am definitely looking into purchasing one as soon as I can. I just think it can make your blog look much more professional and much more personal to you if it says '' rather than ''. I feel adding a domain can allow you to feel as though your blog is more yours rather than belonging to blogger. I've had a lot of recommendations to visit GoDaddy for mine, they have really cheap annual fees so I'll definitely be looking into this as soon as I can.

Good Photography
This links back to my earlier point on creating a good thumbnail for your post. Now, you do not have to own the best camera in the world, I in fact only own the Nikon Coolpix L810. I can't even adjust the aperture and shutter speeds on it but hey, you have to work with what you've got. Learn to love your camera, just like a baby you have to get to grips with it. Find out what works best for your camera, which settings are better, whether it shoots better with the flash or not. Learn how to zoom up close whilst keeping the frame in focus. Your readers are likely to see the photography side of your post first, allow it to capture their attention. If it looks as though you have put time and care into your images, then it's likely you have with your actual post as well and therefore this will capture the reader's attention. ('Capture' do you see what I did there?!;) )

Unique Content
Now this is a no brainer. I'm not saying don't follow the latest trend and carry out a review on it. That's fine but try to vary what you are posting. People do get fed up of reading the same old reviews on the same products day in, day out. Look for bargains, find an interesting place to shoot an outfit post, talk about your Granny's beloved apple crumble recipe. Don't be afraid to try out something new, be different and take lot's of risks. Your readers may thank you for it in the end.

Social Media
As a blogger, you are working on the internet and so rightfully the internet will become your best friend. Social media definitely provides you with the audience you want for your blog, especially Twitter. The majority of my readers do come from Twitter. People are more than likely only really going to comment on your posts if you comment on their's and so the easiest way of connecting with other bloggers is to take part in a blogger chat. You don't have to take part in them all, during college I tend to only join in with one but every little helps. You can find a list of all of the chats and their times listed here.

Do What Makes YOU Happy
Now, most importantly you should always do what makes you happy. At the end of the day, your blog is your little space on the internet and it is definitely noticeable in a post when you aren't particularly enjoying what you're writing about. I feel that as bloggers we do feel pressured to write about specific topics and follow all of the current trends and hypes. But if you're not into it, then you're just not into it. People are more than likely going to like you for who you are, so stick at that and blog away 'til your hearts content.

So that is everything that I have learnt so far on my journey as a blogger. I hope you liked this post and if you have any tips on things you have learnt on your blogging journeys then feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Until next time you lovely lot!

December Favourites

Monday, January 5, 2015

Hello everyone! Okay so I know I'm a little late with this one now right but oh well, here it is. December is not only a time of treating others but for treating yourself as well and so this month I've had the chance to try out quite a couple of different products and so this is just a list of all the beauty products and a couple of little random bits in between that I have been loving in December.

NARS Eyeshadow in 'Opal Coast'
I picked this up on a whim a couple of weeks ago simply because it was exclusive to Selfridge's, limited edition and the packaging was absolutely gorgeous. How can a girl refuse?! The colour is a beautiful, silvery, sparkly, shimmer colour. It basically screams all things party and so was perfect for the holiday season! With it being glittery I was worried it may have quite a lot of fall out but it is far from that. I worn this across my lid on New Year's Eve with a black in my crease to create a dramatic, sparkly smokey eye and it was perfect. It lasted me all night, I simply cannot fault it.

The Balm 'Mary Lou-Manizer'
Okay, I'm just a little bit late on this one, I know! I received this as a birthday present from my sister and I absolutely love it. I was used to using silver toned highlighters and so it was interesting to see what it would be like to use a more golden toned one. I have no regrets, I've been trying out so many gold highlighters since. This product blends in so well with my skin and when the light catches your face it creates a beautiful, golden glow. Perfect for the holiday season.

Bourjois Healthy Mix in '52 Vanilla'
Once again, I'm late on the hype as always. But anyhow, this is another one of those products that are certainly worth the hype it receives. This definitely gives a nice medium coverage to the skin which is definitely buildable with a concealer. The consistency of this I find is quite creamy which leaves my skin looking dewy with a fresh faced glow. I worn this for my birthday meal and it honestly lasted all night, I was so impressed! I wouldn't recommend this however if you have oily skin as it does hydrate your skin quite well and leaves it looking super dewy!

MAC Strobe Cream
Throughout the party season I have been using this as my base without even bothering to add a primer on top. Not only does this moisturise my skin but it has a slight shimmer to it which creates more of a fresh faced look. My skin feels so much more hydrated once I've used this, because its' so hydrating i feel it definitely adds to my foundation and creates an instantly much more dewy look which I have been loving lately!

NARS Translucent Powder in 'Crystal'
I've been wanting to try out a translucent powder for quite some time now and finally decided to snap this one up last month. I love the colour of this, it definitely is translucent that's for sure! I love how light this is on the skin too as it allows for my foundation to still have that nice dewy effect but without it sliding off of my face, therefore creating more of a natural look. I also love the packaging of this, it comes in a beautiful black pouch alongside a little sponge for you to blend the product in with.

Benefit 'Hoola' Bronzer
Definitely an old time favourite of mine but recently I've found I have been reaching for this product quite a lot more. I think this has definitely become my holy grail bronzer this past month. This product  can be quite heavy when first applied but blends out brilliantly to create a natural, bronzed look. Once again, for the party season this has been perfect!

Victoria's Secret PINK Flashing Phone Case
Now onto the random favourites. This was actually a limited edition purchase that I picked up during their Black Friday sale. I've said this far too many times in this post but this has been perfect for the holiday season. It has Christmas lights on it with a sparkly grey hardware and it lights up; with three different settings. Yes, that's right I really did say THREE. The amount of compliments I have had for this case are unreal, my friends love it, my teachers love it, my family love it, even Union J loved it. I'm still in shock I managed to get this beauty for only £10!

Starbucks Toffee Nut Latte
As always, in every favourites post I have to mention my current Costa/Starbucks love. At the moment the Toffee Nut Latte has been my bae. I just love the sparkly nut sprinkles they have on the whipped cream, which tastes divine for one. And then the drink itself is so nuttyfied and just makes me feel all cosy and warm inside and makes me actually happy that it is Winter so I can enjoy its nuttiness.

So I hope you liked this post! That's everything that I have been loving in December, hopefully 2015 will bring many more beauty products my way! What have you been loving in December? Are you excited to try out a new product in 2015? Let me know in the comments below! Until next time.

Benefit Cosmetics Calendar Review! #2

Friday, January 2, 2015

Hello everybody! Can you believe that Christmas has come and gone already? One of my favourite things about December is definitely advent. I find it so exciting counting down the days till Christmas and celebrating by opening a chocolate a day or in this case a make-up product a day! This year I was fortunate enough to try out the Benefit Cosmetics advent calendar. As many of you probably already know, Benefit is definitely my favourite beauty brand and so to receive mini Benefit samples everyday and the odd cute little accessory was lovely! Incase you didn't already know, I posted a review on days 1-15 here and so this review is actually part two where I'll be speaking about my thoughts on days 16-25! I hope you enjoy this post and that you all had an amazing Christmas!!

Day 16 - High Beam - MY BIRTHDAY! I posted an 18th birthday haul here if you would like to check that out! Anyway, now onto the product.. I have heard so many good things about High Beam but I've genuinely never tried it until now. I tried this with a layer of Lollitint over the top as I heard this creates a lovely, pinky glow to the skin and that really is not a false fact. This creates such a beautiful glow yet is so subtle especially mixed with the Lollitint and so appears more natural on the skin which was definitely the look I desired. I definitely think I'll be buying the full size version of this when I can!

Day 17 - Beauty Doodle Pad - Can we just take a moment to appreciate how cute the packaging for this is?

I'm a freak I know but I simply have refused to actually use the stationery gifts received in the calendar, I just think the packaging is stunning and so have these placed on my desk as decoration. They add so much to it surprisingly considering how tiny they are but I just love little, simple finishing touches like this. And the quote on the front are definitely words to live by, even though I am a beauty fanatic it really is good to always remember that "Laughter is the best cosmetic!"

Day 18 - That Gal Brightening Face Primer - I actually already have the full size version of this and so I was delighted to see I now have a little extra as a back up. This is definitely another one of my Benefit favourites. I am a little bit of a lover for a natural looking pinkish, rose hued glow to the skin and this product definitely gives you that. I'm not entirely sure about the staying power of this product but it definitely makes your skin appear more awake and looking beautifully hydrated.

Day 19 - Polka Dot Hair Tie - Unlike the silvery hair tie, this one is much softer and stretches better and therefore can actually fit around my hair into a pony tail this time. But I do think these also look super cute as a little bracelet. I love the pinkish, beige colour of this too, it's super cute!

Day 20 - Ultra Plush Lipgloss in 'Fauxmance' - As mentioned previously, I am not a big lipgloss lover at all. I just find I prefer my lips to look matte rather than glossy. But still, I've given lipgloss a go and I have been quite pleasantly surprised. At first I did find this colour a bit too dark for my lips but this blended out brilliantly, it feels so smooth on my lips and I definitely don't feel as though I need a lip balm alongside this. I was wary of the dark colour at first but once blended this made the appearance of my lips much more fuller looking and naturally plumped which I loved! A great product to help fake that Angelina Jolie pout!

Day 21 - Watt's Up - I have used this highlighter previously and I absolutely love it. It creates the perfect golden glow which blends out beautifully and for a sample size you actually get quite a lot, I'm surprised at how long this could probably last me! I've been really into a golden highlight recently rather than a silvery one so I was delighted to open this on Day 21!

Day 22 - BADgal Lash - Oh my word I think I have just found my new holy grail mascara. You may or may not already know but I do not actually really like the 'They're Real' mascara I just find it doesn't really do much for my lashes. However this bad boy lengthens them, thickens them and actually makes my lashes look lengthy throughout the whole day, I find that usually mascaras tend to fade and my lashes begin to droop but this product is perfect, I am in love!

Day 23 - Cha Cha Tint - Unfortunately for me, out of all four of the tints this one has got to be my least favourite. The colour did not blend out well onto my lips, it appeared patchy and streaky in places and as for my cheeks the colour was far too dark and did not appear natural at all. I am quite pale however so I think this product is probably more aimed at people with darker skin tones as I have tried the other tints and they all worked much better for my milk bottle white skin.

Day 24 - Fake Up - This is a brilliant concealer! I have tried this previously in the past and felt as though it works really well for covering up my under eyes! I don't think this product works well with spots however due to its creamy consistency it doesn't blend in well enough to create a full coverage but this definitely does brighten up your eyes, perfect for those dreary Monday mornings! Unfortunately my product was actually damaged slightly at the back when I opened it, the silvery packaging looks as though it has been purposefully peeled off which was a shame, at least it wasn't the front I suppose!

So those were all of the products featured in the Benefit Cosmetics advent calendar this year! Were you lucky enough to purchase one? Let me know in the comments below what is your favourite Benefit product! Until next time,

Happy Holidays!
Toni. X

Don't wish for it, work for it!

Thursday, January 1, 2015

Hello lovelies! First off, I just want to start by saying Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a lovely New Year's Eve last night however you chose to celebrate it and I wish you all the best of luck for 2015! Hopefully you are not all too hungover right now and dying in bed, if so... get well soon and I hope the night was worth it! In today's post I'm just going to be sharing with you my New Year's Resolutions and a quick little OOTN for what I wore on New Year's Eve!

1. Cut down on the junk food
I think it's safe to say that I've probably ate that much chocolate and cake throughout December that you could probably build a house out of it! This has lead to me feeling just a little bit on the groggy side of things and a pretty bad case of a spot breakout! I've decided in the New Year to have a treat day where I cut out cake and chocolate every other day of the month except the 16th because well my birthday is the 16th and it's a nice number in the middle. So I can have two weeks either side of the month to be good and that day in the middle to splurge!

2. Get into shape
This is probably on just about everybody's New Year's resolution list but I have always wanted to have a toned stomach but I just always lose the motivation and would much rather eat pizza and ice cream in bed all day. As lovely as that may sound, it probably isn't a great idea for my body and so this year I really want to get on with eating less junk and making myself feel good about myself.

3. Have my own blog domain
I'm not too sure how I should go about this and where is the best place to go but I really would love to have my own blogger domain. I just think it would feel as though Clarke Couture really is MY website rather than it still technically belonging to blogger. I really want my blog to grow in 2015 and I think having my own domain is a great place to start.

4. Have my own customised blog template
At the moment I am overly fairly happy with how my blog is looking, I love my new header and the signature I've just added but I still feel like there's something missing and so I would love to work on this once again to help my blog grow in the New Year.

5. Aim for A*AAB in my A-Levels
This is a big goal, I know and I don't even need to do this really. I have already been accepted into uni as long as I get a maximum of 3 B's but I just want to do this for myself. If you didn't already know, I'm currently studying Sociology, English Lang and Lit combined, Photography and Extended Project. I was only 1 mark off an A in my English last year and would love to push this to the A in the New Year.  For some reason, although I got a B in photography last year it's impossible to get an A, it's either a B or an A*. I'm currently working at an A and achieving 79/80 on both units will be tough but I'm determined. In sociology I've had A's in every essay throughout this year so far and so would love to achieve this at the end of the year.

6. Have a more positive outlook
I am on the whole quite a negative person. So much so, that I don't even call it being negative. I see it as being realistic. Some may say, this harsh attitude may get me nowhere in life and so I am going to try my hardest to change this and hopefully I'll be a much happier person by the end of the year.

7. Begin a journal
As a method to help battle my negativity, I've decided to start writing a journal. This is something I used to do as a kid, particularly on holiday and I would look back at all the happy memories I have and it really does put a smile on your face. So from now on, if something good happens to me in a day I'll write about it and then when I'm having a bad day I could look back through my journal and realise how much good I have in my life to conquer the bad.

8. Stop comparing myself to others
Another problem that comes with my negativity is comparing myself to others. I constantly judge myself based on the ability of others and ultimately put myself down quite a lot as a result of this. I don't hate myself as a person, don't get me wrong but say I'll watch a girl on YouTube and wish I could do my make-up as good as her or someone will get an A in a test I got a C on and I'll wish I could have done better. But end of the day, as long as you put in 110% effort into everything that you do then that should be all that matters. Be YOURSELF because NOBODY else can do YOU any better.

9. Communicate with my family more
When I was little my dad would always tell me about the importance of family. You choose your friends and they come and go but you always have your family and so you should value that. All my family live together in one small area whereas me and my mum live the furthest away from all of them, not intentionally that's just how things have happened. I feel this year I should try to make more effort and become close to some of them again. Particularly the younger generation who are only 2, or 3 years younger than myself. Fun fact, I'm the eldest.

10. Don't be afraid to try new things
Lastly, my favourite word is 'No'. I use this word far too much even with things I've never even tried, I just assume that it isn't for me or that I won't like it. I'm becoming all sappy here but at the end of the day we only get one life, we may as well gain as many experiences as we can out of it. So I dare you, pick a day. Any day and spend that day saying yes to everything you are asked, you'll be amazed how differently things may become if you start to give them a go.

What I wore: New Year's Eve

Kimono: Topshop
Top: H&M
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Topshop
Choker: Topshop

As I only went round to my sister's for a meal and some drinks with the family, I opted for this casual yet edgy outfit and dressed it up a little with the velvet and lace kimono alongside a silver and black smokey eye.

So I hope you liked this post! Let's spread the positivity into the comments and let me know down below what are your New Year's resolutions for this year! Until next time,

Best wishes for the New Year! Let's all smash 2015!!
