Get Festival Ready - Essentials + Hair, Make-Up&Outfit Ideas With *PRAIRIE CHARMS*

Friday, May 29, 2015

Hello lovelies! I am SO EXCITED for this post you literally have no idea. Prairie Charms are an upcoming beautiful handmade jewellery, hair and stationery company filled with unique pieces to aid you with any occasion. From washy-tape all the way through to floral crowns. Prairie Charms have selected me to take part in this wonderful collaboration which helps a wonderful cause: The Make A Wish Foundation offering young disadvantaged children the chance at a better life by making their wishes come true. 25% of their profit sales are donated to this generous cause and so this post is all about paying it forward and thinking about what you can do in your own life to help out those in need. Prairie Charms have asked me to create a post expressing the fulfilling joy of life and the coming together of people, so what would be a better way to do that than a music festival?!

In the aftermath of the Coachella season I thought it would be really cool to create a post all about making sure you are festival ready. Girl, I have got you covered. I've got essentials, hair, make-up and 2 outfit ideas. So as I clearly have a lot to cover without further adieu, lets get straight into this post!

First of all, you can't go to a festival without a bag to keep all of your essentials together. This one just screams festival to me, it's actually my sister's so I'm not sure exactly how much it was but it's so roomy and she actually got this from Ebay, they sell loads on there so I'd definitely have a nosy if you're wanting to snap one up for cheap! Then inside the bag, you have to have a purse to match and of course it has to be a small one. A purse is just essential, you're going to need money and a small one like mine is definitely useful so it doesn't take up too much room in your bag. And can we just mention how cute the packaging is on this one, it matches the bag perfectly with the whole 'Indian/Turkish/Bohemian' thaang we have got going on. Thirdly, of course the dry shampoo especially if you're going to be camping and you're in 30 degree heat, a girl like me who's unfortunately prone to greasy hair can't go anywhere without hers! Batiste is definitely my favourite as it just adds a great volume and makes my hair feel so super soft! Speaking of heat, definitely remember to pack some sun lotion and sunglasses, self explanatory I know but they'll come in super handy on the day. Unfortunately it wasn't sunny enough in England for me to bother wearing the glasses haha!

Continuing on, a few skincare bits I feel are essential in the heat are firstly hand cream. I find my hands can become quite dry in the heat and this mini one is perfect from Lush, best of all it only cost £1 and 100% of the profits go to charity! Secondly, lip balm. I cannot go anywhere with mine, this one in particular is just a standard mint EOS and I just feel the cool, minty tones are perfect for rescuing chapped lips. Then just a little bronzer to touch up, this one is just the Benefit Hoola but I am literally in love with the fact it says my name. Fun fact, Benefit actually sent me out two by mistake!! Then, I'm not sure if it's really a necessary essential but I just thought it was cute to have a little selfy stick with you so you can take of course some fabulous selfies with you and all of your friends as you're going to want some photos to make some memories about the event! These can be super expensive so I snapped mine up for only £4.90 on Ebay, bargain!! And last but not least, I can't forget my Prairie Charms goodies!

Make-up wise I tried to keep it pretty simple. A full coverage base and my Naked 3 palette which I haven't used in what feels like forever, I opted for Strange across the lid, Nooner in my crease and a sprinkle of Dust over the top. I am in love with the pink glitter gifted to me by Prairie Charms*, it surprisingly stuck so well on top of the white face paint, it also didn't shed across my face like most glitters usually tend to do so brownie points right there! Cheeks wise, I've been testing out my new MAC bronzer from the Wash and Dry collection, which adds a very subtle and lightweight contour. Perfect for a festival and the packaging is just to die for, a touch of my Clinique cheek pop in 'Plum Pop' and a once over from Benefit Watts Up! and Ta-Da! I am festival ready.

Hair wise, I like to keep it pretty simple. For the first outfit I just placed my hair into a side parting and created a simple braid on the side, complete with this stunning floral crown I picked up from Ebay. Such a simple and easy hairstyle but with the added touch of the floral crown it just screams festival. Secondly, I curled my hair ever so slightly and simply let it hang 'au naturale'. Wishing I had some sea salt spray now just to add a little bit more texture but I just thought with the added 'Tikka-Headress' which I picked up from ASOS and the natural beachy waves look, I just felt like a Bohemian Goddess.

Outfit Ideas:

Outfit One:
Dress - Boohoo
Shoes - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop
Cardigan - River Island

Outfit Two:
Top - Topshop
Skirt - Topshop
Shoes - Topshop
Headdress - New Look @ ASOS
Wristlet - Prairie Charms*

I absolutely love the fringing in both of these outfits, I have linked everything I could above if it is still available online. Also how cute are these flash tattoos?! I picked these up for only £5 in Topshop, definitely a perfect festival accessory! Now the most important part of the outfit of course is the Prairie Charms* goodies. This necklace is so simple and cute but it just adds that little something extra to my outfit, fringe necklaces can be so expensive nowadays so this little beauty was a bargain, I also love the colour of this too. It isn't quite pink yet it isn't quite purple or red either, definitely a very unique piece in my jewellery collection. Secondly, this 'wristlet' is actually a headband but I felt it just looked so cute tied around my wrist like a corsage. I have corsage from Topshop so similar to this which whenever I wear receives so many compliments so I am in love with this one, the colour, the size of the flower and  it's also super comfortable on the wrist. And not forgetting versatile, a headband and a wristlet all in one, now that's a bargain if you ask me.

I am super sorry for how long this post is!! Definitely very picture heavy but this has been a work in progress for a good month now, thinking about it this would have made a great YouTube video if I knew how to edit haha! I hope you enjoyed this post, if you have made it until the end then high five to you!! If you've already been to a festival this year, let me know in the comments below! I'd love to hear all about it!!

Definitely go ahead and check out Prairie Charms if you haven't already, they have pretty much everything you need for any event and they also just launched their Prairie Piazza boxes and yes pizza boxes with pretty products inside them and I'm sure you love pizza because everyone loves pizza so you definitely need to go and check those out. It's even better knowing your money is going to such a wonderful cause by helping children with the Make A Wish Foundation. Until next time..

Are you going to any festivals in the Summer?

How To Cope With Missing Out

Monday, May 25, 2015

'FOMO' or fear of missing out is definitely something I've been feeling quite a bit lately. I remember seeing Lily Melrose create a post about this ages ago and at the moment in my life it just seemed so fitting to give my own personal input and advice on the topic. If you're unaware BeautyCon London came to the UK for the first time this weekend just past and around six of my favourite youtubers that I have watched since forever were all there. I've watched particularly Alisha Marie, Sierra Furtado and Mia Stammer for as long as I can even remember, so as you may have already guessed I wasn't able to attend BeautyCon London and so knowing my top three favourite youtubers from overseas were just two hours away from where I live by train and knowing I couldn't go was a bummer.

Unfortunately they were announced only around a month before the event they were attending and £200 was pretty steep for me plus the train fare and whatever amount of money I would need for food and such things on the day. It's also so close to all of my exams that it was basically impossible. We all feel left out from things quite often, back when I was 13 as funny as it is now really, I went to my room and cried because I wasn't able to meet One Direction at their Manchester book signing. My mum said they would be back but well.. nope that never happened. During revision season it's very easy to feel left out, around this time of the year a lot of festivals begin to happen and people are getting set to go on their holidays and then there's me stuck in here in rainy old England cooped up in my little office revising. And now I've rambled on enough, here are some tips to help yourself not feel so left out:

1. On the day of the event, avoid social media at all costs - you will only feel worse if you look at pictures trust me!

2. Appreciate the beauty of things around you. I've never been overseas, so the best beach experience I've ever had is a pebbled Welsh coastline but if you look at the photo above you would never guess that was Wales, it may not exactly be Santa Monica but those sunsets will always be Santa Monica to me.

3. There will ALWAYS be other events and better ones at that too. If it isn't meant to be this time then it just isn't meant to be.

4. Re-Create your own version of the event - If your friends aren't attending either then get them all together and re-create your own event. For example an alternative to BeautyCon would be just getting a load of your make-up together and having a little fun with it, you could have plenty of snacks and drinks, watch a load of YouTube videos together and even get each other a little beauty present too.

5. Write down everything you have planned to look forward to in your life - You will feel so much better thinking about the good of what's to come rather than feel down about one minor event you couldn't attend.

6. Treat yourself - Even if it's just a new mascara from the drugstore, you'll feel 10x better rewarding yourself rather than beating yourself down about not being at the event.

7. Create yourself a bucket list jar - Write down onto slips of paper all of the events and places you want to attend before you die. Fold them and place them into a jar, whichever one you choose focus on that one first, not only will it give you something to look forward to when you eventually make it there but you'll be able to focus on the excitement of the future rather than your current emotional state.

8. Spend the day having fun! - If you're in the awkward and unfortunate position where all of your friends are going and you can't? So what! I'm sure there'll be drama and you'll have a much better time spending your day doing all the things you love. Create a checklist of all of your favourite things you love to spend your time doing. By the end of the day you could have baked a cake, re-read 5 fashion magazines, been on a mini shopping spree and even had a little pamper session and by the end of all that you should be feeling hella fabulous!

So that was just a few little tips to help yourself feel a bit more upbeat when you feel as though you're missing out. Have you missed out on an event recently? Let me know in the comments below, I hope these tips helped you even just a little bit! Until next time..
