Easy Half Skull Halloween Make-Up

Thursday, October 29, 2015

Happy Halloween everyone! In today's post I'll be sharing with you the products I used to recreate this half skull make-up look, this is super simple to do and a perfect last minute outfit idea. We're keeping it simple on the left and creeping it real on the right, hope you enjoy!

The Left:

To begin I primed my face all over using the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, as a contrast to the darker right side, I've used the Benefit That Gal Primer on the left to add an extra glow to my skin. To make my brows look a little bit more fuller I've lightly combed through them using the Maybelline Brow Drama; creating a nice and natural look. To create a natural finish to my skin, Benefit Big Easy shall keep my skin looking fresh and smooth, with the effect of 'my skin but better'. To further brighten up the left side of my face, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer adding a bit of lift to the under eye area and around the brow. Setting all of this in place with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder across the entirety of my face. To further awaken my eyes, I've used the NYX Mascara in 'Brown' giving a natural looking flutter to my lashes. To give the left side of my face an extra touch of colour, in contrast with the dark skull; I've swept the Benefit Fine One One blush and highlight cheek tint across my cheeks adding a subtle flush of colour. Lastly, adding the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub to prep my lips for later application.

To begin, I've primed my eyes using the Benefit Stay Don't Stray, before eyeshadow application I used the MAC Kohl Liner in 'Smolder' and applying to both my top and lower waterline; adding depth to the eyes and overall look. Beginning the eyeshadow, using 'Serious' from The Balm Nudetude palette onto a flat top brush, packing the shade across the entirety of the lid and beginning to smoke out underneath the eye as well.
Going back in with the MAC liner, begin to create your desired outline - covering round the brow and the under eye. I filled this in with black face paint, setting once again with 'Serious' - a deep black eyeshadow. Once your eye is complete, begin to draw a line extending from the top corner of your brow and continuing round your hair line until you reach the top of your ear, then begin to extend towards the mouth creating your desired shape. Once again, fill in using a black face paint and setting with a black eyeshadow. Moving onto the lips I've used the Rimmel London Exaggerate Black Liner to create the black strips, filling in the in between sections using Sudocrem and setting with a white eyeshadow - 'Sassy' from the Nudetude palette. To do this, I've used an angled eyeliner brush, adding definition to the lips by outlining them with the Sudocrem. For the nose, extend from the eyes; once again create your outline and fill in using the face paint and black eyeshadow of your choice.
To add further definition to the look, create an outline using a kohl liner along the right side of your chin. I then placed my fingerprints into the black eyeshadow and swiped along my neck - creating the illusion of a hand mark. Then, using a fluffy eyeshadow brush begin to smoke out your outlines along the mouth, cheek and eye, creating more of a 3D effect finish. Lastly, priming and lengthening my lashes using the Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer, completing the look with the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. You may also add a touch of white eyeshadow to your inner corner if you wish.

I hope you enjoyed this look today lovelies, I'll be posting a daytime appropriate halloween look in the next couple of days - thick winged liner and pops of berry and pink! Until next time,

Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Who doesn't love baking? Especially during this time of the year, there's just something so comforting about the warm and sweet smells that fill the air of a home baked cake. There's nothing more appropriate than a good piece of pumpkin cake during the Autumn and so today I thought I'd share with you all how I made these pumpkin spiced cupcakes. The following recipe serves 12 cupcakes.

  • 150g self raising flour
  • 150g butter
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 1 tin of pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • Orange food colouring
  • Icing sugar - For buttercream icing you will need 75g butter and 4 tablespoons of milk. For glace icing just add 4 tablespoons of water.

  • Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)
  • Place butter into a bowl and stir until a smooth consistency.
  • Then begin to add flour, eggs, sugar and milk into the bowl and continue to mix together.
  • Lastly, add in the pumpkin and cinnamon. Stirring again until smooth.
  • Place the mixture into your cupcake cases and place into the oven for 25-30 minutes.
  • To make the icing follow the instructions above depending on whether you wish to make buttercream or glace icing. Begin to add in your orange food colouring, depending on how bright you want your icing to be add as a little or as much as you like.
  • Once the cakes have cooled, apply your icing and decorate as you wish. I opted to use these cute halloween glow in the dark signs, as well as sprinkling on some extra cinnamon and Reese's pieces. Yum! It's halloween so there's no more of a perfect time than this to get creative!

I hope you all have a fang-tastic halloween, leave me a comment down below with what your plans are for halloween this year. This is such an easy recipe to follow and I cannot resist a good piece of pumpkin this season. Until next time lovelies,

15 Things To Do In Autumn/Fall

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Most people are all for the summer but for me, October to December is hands down my favourite time of the year. There's just so many more fun things to do due to the amount of festivities we have, there's Halloween, Bonfire Night, the lead up to Christmas with advent calendars and buying cute little Lush festive bath bombs - most of my family are also born during this half of the year too (including me!) which makes it even better! This time of year may seem quite costly to some but there's also a lot of fun things you can do on a budget and so today I thought I'd share 15 of them with you!

Autumn activities

Go for a picnic
I know picnics are typically seen as a summery thing to do but I think they can be just as fun in the autumn, especially with the warmer weather we've been having in England recently. Just grab your favourite tartan blanket, some snacks, grab some friends and go for a picnic! It's also the perfect opportunity to snag some cute Instagram worthy pictures, right?!

Visit a pumpkin patch
If you have one near you, or a local farm seriously go and visit it and choose your pumpkin. Living in the city unfortunately my closest experience to this is picking out a pumpkin in the supermarket but if you're lucky enough to be near a pumpkin patch seriously just go! This would be such a fun day out riding on hay bales, getting lost in a corn maze and coming home with a cute little pumpkin.

Pamper day
Baths are seriously just that bit more satisfying during the colder months and so what perfect of an excuse to go out and indulge yourself in some seasonal Lush bath bombs. I still need to treat myself to one of the glitter pumpkins! So relax, get your feet up, binge watch TV in your pj's with a hot beverage of your choice and surround yourself with pumpkin scented candles, ahh bliss!

Halloween make-up
You can get super creative with this, so go and have some fun with it! I'd seriously recommend just going and raiding the aisles of Poundland with every set of face paint you can find, who knows what spooktacular look you'll come up with it!

Go trick or treating!
I actually miss going trick or treating, I used to love getting all dressed up as a kid and awaiting the excitement of which sweets lay behind each door! If you've done your halloween make-up you may as well go out there and show it off, right?!

The sweet smells of cake, pumpkin and cinnamon in the air are so much warm and inviting during this time of year, so why not google some fun recipes and make some yummy treats. It feels like a long time since I've just spent the day baking some treats, so stay tuned as there's something super yummy, seasonal and easy to make on its way to the blog very soon!!

Re-decorate your room
As a kid I seriously used to love spending the day changing up my room, moving everything around to different places can actually be quite exciting and give your room a whole new vibe. It can actually be quite refreshing to embrace change sometimes. Or, why not raid the aisles of a few homewear stores and add a couple of seasonal pieces to your room - It can be just as simple as adding some glitter pumpkins and fairy lights.

Visit a fireworks display
Who doesn't love fireworks? So get yourself all wrapped up, grab your hat, scarf and wellies and get yourself down to a bonfire show. They are usually always free to watch, buy or make yourself some toffee apples and treacle toffee and you'll certainly begin to start feeling a little bit festive. You could even have your own outdoor bonfire with smores if you're not a fan of big crowds!

Host an autumn gathering
Why not invite a few of your friends round to pretty much do all of the above?! You could bake some yummy treats, carve out some pumpkins, play some apple bobbing and binge watch movies!

Fall photoshoot
Last year I created a fall lookbook which I had so much fun shooting, the leaves are the most beautiful colour during this time of year so it's really such a great opportunity to get out there and have some fun exploring nature.

Shopping spree!
The new season is always the perfect excuse to buy more clothes right?! Grab a couple of your friends and hit the shops, even if you're just browsing and lusting after all the new winter coats you'll still have a lot of fun. You can then even end the day in your favourite coffee shop for a much needed hot drink, basic but my autumnal drink of choice is always the pumpkin spiced latte! What's yours?!

Typically an American tradition but I do think it's really important to take a couple of minutes during this time of year as everything is coming to an end, to appreciate everything you've been thankful for this year so far. Besides, who doesn't love a good roast dinner?! Me and my family have decided to partake in the tradition this year, (The perfect excuse to indulge in cinnamon rolls, am I right?!) so I can't wait to share a couple of autumnal snaps with you all on Instagram

Create a scrapbook
Once again, another fun thing I used to love doing as a kid. This time of year can be a pretty exciting one, so why not savour those memories in a worn out, well loved scrapbook. If you have a polaroid camera, that's even better - you can snap and store this seasons memories forever. To add a seasonal touch to the book, you could press leaves - If you went out and pressed a leaf everyday until the end of the season I wonder what the final result would be?!

Try a new hobby
Knitting would be a great example of this, scarf season is officially here so why not have a bash of trying to make your own? Definitely a lot cheaper than buying one in the shops and more fun too!

Visit a haunted house
If you're brave enough...

What do you like to during the Autumn?

Autumn Lipsticks | My Top Four + Swatches

Friday, October 9, 2015

As the weather changes, of course my make-up does too. As we move away from the summer and its bright pinks and corals, we're left with Autumn and Winter's downpour, grey clouds. The smells of damp leaves and a typical deep, berry on the lips. Here we have ladies and gentleman, my top four Autumn lipstick picks.

Autumn lipsticks
Nars Audacious Lipstick in 'Carmen' | £24.00 here
I have probably spoken about this lipstick far too much on my blog over the past few months but it really is just that good. You can't enter the Autumn without a classic, statement red lip and Carmen is my ultimate go to. This is hands down the most pigmented lipstick I own, with amazing staying power this beauty can last through food and drink and still look near enough perfect. Although initially feeling quite velvety on the lips, I find this can dry to quite a matte texture after about an hour. Everybody needs at least one NARS Audacious lipstick in their collection.

MUA Lipstick in 'Raven' | £1.00 here
Autumn is all about dark lips right?! Well you certainly cannot get anything darker than black. If you're brave enough to wear it, this lipstick has such amazing pigmentation for just £1.00, giving you a super silky finish when applied to the lips. Although not as long lasting as a NARS offering this is definitely a great option if you're looking for something bold and on a budget to wear this halloween.

MAC 'Diva' | £15.50 here
It just wouldn't be a lipstick post without a couple of MAC offerings thrown in there. Diva is hands down my ultimate go to for the Autumn. A beautiful deep purple with a burgundy undertone which just has Autumnal written all over it. This is a matte finish and can become a little drying on the lips so I'd definitely recommend applying either a lip balm before application or a clear lipgloss after application.

MAC 'Creme in your Coffee' | £15.50  here
A nude offering has to be one of my staples no matter what the time of year and for the Autumn it has to be Creme in your Coffee. As a cremesheen finish this is super moisturising on the lips (Perfect for this time of year!) but thankfully isn't sheer enough to the point where you can't even see it. This adds a lovely brown tone to the lips, once again with a burgundy undertone leaving it looking slightly darker on me than Velvet Teddy does. If you're a bit shy of a red lip and are looking for a go to, everyday nude this season then Creme in your Coffee is the one for you.

And so that was my top four lipstick colours for the season. Have you tried any of these shades before? Let me know which one is your favourite in the comments below - I'd also love it if you could give me some lip liner recommendations too! Until next time lovelies,

Five Goals To Complete Before 2016

Friday, October 2, 2015

As Autumn is now well and truly upon us as we enter into the last quarter of the year, I thought it would be nice to set myself some goals as an extra boost of motivation before the year is over. I did actually set myself some new year's resolutions way back in January which you can check out here if you wish - I've surprisingly completed quite a couple of them!

Pondering over my goals with a much needed Starbucks!

1. Hit 500 followers on Bloglovin
My blog has grown so much recently since hitting its first birthday in July and I'm honestly so grateful for that. I'm currently making my way towards 400 followers on bloglovin' so it would be so unreal if I was able to reach 500 before the end of the year. If we actually manage it there will definitely be a cheeky 500 follower giveaway as my way of saying thank you so - watch this space!

2. Feel more settled within university
If you're a regular reader of mine then you'll probably already know I've just began my first year at university. I am still living at home however, it just felt like the best decision for me and I have no regrets with that at all but I would like to think by the end of the year I'll have made a few more friends and I'll hopefully have created some amazing memories to look back on next year.

3. To improve my blog photography
As someone who studied photography at A-Level for the past two years, I'm always looking for ways to improve my blog photography and if you look back to my older posts then it's honestly amazing how far I have finally come. I'm really hoping to invest in a new camera for christmas this year, I've had mine for the past three years and I'm just excited to finally make some much needed improvements.
I currently use the Nikon Coolpix L810 incase you were curious - I'd definitely recommend this to beginners but for me this investment shall hopefully be worth it, photography is something I want to be able to do alongside my journey into becoming a fashion journalist. If you have any camera recommendations then do please them in the comments below!

4. To release my first product
This isn't something I've mentioned on my blog yet but I'm currently working alongside upcoming hair and accessory company Prairie Charms to create my own hand chain ahh! As we move into October I'm going to be beginning the design process which is super exciting, I honestly cannot wait to share the final result with you guys. I'm not too sure on exactly how long the process may be at this point but it would be so cool to have my own product released just as we move into the new year.

5. Get involved with more activities
If you didn't already know, October to December is my favourite time of the year. There's just so many more events and celebrations to attend and I really want to start getting involved with more seasonal activities this year. I know that fashion and beauty is my main discussion area within blogging but I'd love to add a few more lifestyle posts to my blog and take you guys along with me on different events throughout this latter half of the year. I've also never attended any blogging events so it would be amazing to finally tick this off of my list by the end of the year.

So I hope you enjoyed this post lovelies, it's always nice to boost ourselves with a touch of motivation during this latter half of the year. Also, if you do have any camera recommendations then do be sure to leave any suggestions in the comments below. Until next time,

What goals would you like to achieve before the new year?!
