Step Into Spring With Boohoo

Monday, March 28, 2016

With the clocks stepping forward yesterday and having spent my weekend stuffing my face with mini eggs, it it safe to say that spring is well and truly here. All we need now is for the weather to catch up with the season haha! In today's post, the lovely team at Boohoo have challenged me to recreate the perfect spring look. I've created two possible outfit ideas, one perfect for a springtime date and the other for a casual yet feminine daytime look.

1. 'Lizzie' lace up crop cami | £10
Its flowing sides and effortless lace middle, make this the perfect wardrobe staple this spring. A girl can never own too many camis!

2. 'Aliza' floral skater skirt | £12
Doesn't this skirt just ooze 'spring'?! Infused with the prettiest lilac florals, adorned against a feminine baby blue background; perfect for any spring date look.

3. 'Sarah' ankle band pointed flat | £18
If you know me and my style, heels just aren't my thing. They're uncomfortable, they make my long legs look even longer and when on a date I'd rather not risk falling flat on my bum if possible; so a decent pair of flats will have to do. Especially on a first date, you want to play it safe right?! The ankle band on this pair adds a lovely edge to an otherwise simple pair of ballet shoes.

4. 'Flora' pocket cape cardigan | £18
In England, you can unfortunately never rely on the spring weather to be warm and dry and so a knitted cardigan is an absolute must have this season. Although coat weather might almost be over, a cardigan is your new best friend.

5. 'Cher' layered trinket necklace | £6
To spice up any minimalistic outfit this spring, you need to have at least one statement necklace in your wardrobe and this offering from Boohoo is perfect. For only £6, you are essentially receiving 3 necklaces in 1 with its layering effect. Bohemian vibes are also so on trend right now, so unleash your inner free spirited goddess with this beauty.

6. 'Jordanna' pom pom trim crop top | £8
Continuing to embrace the bohemian vibes this season, pom poms are a show stopper. But if you're a little bit shy to try something new, this pom pom lace trim tee is the easiest way to embrace the trend. Less is more, remember?!

7. 'Jodie' floral tassel necklace | £6
Unfortunately, as I began writing this post the necklace became out of stock. I shall however, re-add the link if it becomes available again during the week. This is such a pretty piece though, I adore longer necklaces and tassels are just too pretty.

8. 'Naomi' woven tailored trouser | £18
I adore trousers, they are just so comfortable yet look uber effortless and stylish. I have a white pair from ASOS which I basically live in but as the springtime comes around I would love a pink pair and these are perfect. If you're not ready to brace a bare leg just yet then trousers are the option for you.

9. 'Amanda' crop MA1 bomber jacket | £22 (RRP £30!)
This jacket is an absolute steal for just £22 and the bomber is definitely having its moment this season. In January alone Boohoo sold more than 25,000!! Paired with trousers, the bomber adds a relaxed and sport luxe vibe to any outfit.

10. 'Amy' t-bar flat loafers | £15
I have been dying to get my hands on a pair of loafers for a while now and this white offering are just the perfect attire for spring. Wear with trousers for a smart edge.

And so that completes my spring picks from Boohoo! The brand pride themselves on providing you with super stylish picks for less and I'm most certainly impressed with what they have on offer this SS16 season. Until next time,

Have you bought anything from Boohoo recently?!

Spring Beauty Must Haves

spring makeup must haves
With Sunday being the first official day of spring, I've decided to get into the spirit of the season and give my current daily make-up routine a little bit of a spring clean. In today's post, I'll be sharing with you my favourite beauty essentials for the spring season. Think tinted moisturisers and a whole load of pink blush.

In the spring, nothing beats a fresh faced glow and Benefit's That Gal primer adds the prettiest pink canvas to any base of makeup. Featuring soothing raspberry and chamomile to give the appearance of the brighter, healthier skin.

For my base, on a day to day basis I prefer to opt for something quite light on the skin throughout the spring and summer, unlike in the winter when a heavy duty, full coverage foundation is a must. Two of my favourite tinted moisturisers include the NARS Pure Radiant and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB. Both offer a light to medium coverage with a fresh, dewy looking finish. The Maybelline offering also provides 8 in 1 benefits including the illusion of a natural glow and hydrates the skin all day long. Both options include an SPF 30 which is an absolute necessity as we enter into the warmer months.

Now, it just wouldn't be spring without a flush of pink on the cheeks. This season, I'll be switching up my deeper berry toned blushes aka 'MAC Gleeful' for an array of pastel, baby pinks. My favourites include Benefit Hervana with its whimsical blush wheel offering an array of peach, pink and berry hues with a champagne silver in there too for the addition of a flattering highlight. And, from the drugstore the Max Factor creme puff blush in 'Lovely Pink' truly is the prettiest of baby pinks, adding a very natural looking flush to the apples of the cheeks.

For my lashes, I like to keep it nice and natural looking with a brown tinted mascara rather than an intense jet black. To keep my lashes looking fluttery all day long, Benefit's They're Real tinted primer creates the perfect mink-brown tinted base for the NYX colour mascara in 'Brown'. This duo gives my lashes an effortless, lengthening boost that lasts all day.

To highlight, you can never go wrong with a champagne silver in the spring, and Topshop's glow cream in 'Polished' features the prettiest, iridescent pink undertone which compliments any spring blush perfectly.
And to add even more pink to my face, you can never go wrong with a pink tinted lip balm. I am unfortunately prone to dry lips no matter what the season and so as we enter the spring I still want some much needed moisture and the Dusty Girls argyle pink mineral lip shine is perfect for this. Using only natural ingredients including apricot, watermelon and sweet almond seed oil to add tip top moisture for a perfected pout. Its berry tinted pink hue adds the perfect 'your lips but better' shine for day to day wear. For those girls who like to wear a more baby pink tinted hue on the lips, Benefit Posie Balm is perfect. Containing mango butter and sodium hyaluronate to moisturise even the driest of lips whilst still adding a pretty pink tint. Build on several layers for a more pigmented finish.

Lastly, whilst the weather isn't hot enough to make me look like an oily mess just yet; I can get away with completing my look with a glowing, dewy finish. For this, MAC Fix+ rejuvenates and refreshes my skin whilst pro-longing the wear time of my make-up.

And so that was my springtime make-up essentials. I hope you're feeling super inspired for the season ahead as I can't wait to delve back into lighter layers and pretty pinks. Until next time,

How have you transitioned your makeup from winter to spring?!

Spring Clothing Wish List

Friday, March 11, 2016

Besides waiting for the weather to catch up with the latest fashion memo, it's official. Spring 2016 clothing has officially landed and I can't wait to shop it all! If you're still a little unaware of the key trends for the next upcoming season, I shared them with you all in my previous post here, which you may check out if you wish.

1. ASOS 'Kiss The Sky' festival crop top | £22.00 here
I'm so excited for festival season to arrive and this top would look gorgeous both with skirts and light floaty cardigans, harem trousers and sandals or even jeans and a bomber. Its dainty, sweetheart neckline makes this option too pretty to resist.

2. Topshop sporty rib bralet | £15.00 here
In the spring/summer season I absolutely love pairing bravest with both high waisted skirts and even underneath an open shirt for that added bit of detail. This sport luxe option will really help me to embrace the current NYC 90's sports revival trend whilst keeping it casual and super cute.

3. Topshop light chambray 'Billie' shirt | £25.00 here
Everyone needs a crisp white shirt in their wardrobe and this boyfriend fit option from Topshop it's perfect for the warmer weather as its lightweight shape will keep you looking and feeling easy, breezy cool. I can also imagine the sporty rib bralet (mentioned above) making its appearance underneath this one!

4. ASOS cardigan in cocoon shape | £32.00 here
Even though spring is supposed to see the arrival of warmer weather, in the UK you can just never be so sure. Last weekend we had snow. Yes, snow in March!! This ASOS offering is perfect for layering over lighter pieces in the spring and with its batwing shape it will keep me looking uber stylish too.

5. Zara floral embroidered bomber jacket | £59.99 here
Okay, so.. I was a little bit naughty and just splurged on this whilst writing up this post - It was just too gorgeous to resist!! I can imagine this jacket being the centrepiece for so many outfits. Adding a feminine edge to culottes and boyish brogues or keeping it simple with jeans, a shirt and sneakers. Either way, I needed this in my life and the back detailing is just to die for.

6. Zara organic cotton t-shirt | £5.99  here
Stripes are probably the longest ongoing trend in the book and for SS16 they are most definitely still here to stay. Made from organic cotton, this purchase is not only better for the environment than regular cotton, at £6 this is well and truly a bargain steal. There are some basic essentials we all need in our wardrobes and a striped tee is definitely one of them.

7. Zara cropped trousers with front pleat | £39.99 here
Since purchasing my first pair of white ASOS trousers last summer, I am dying to add another set to my collection and with a white blouse and lace up ghillies, this will add effortless chic to any outfit. Besides, you can never go wrong with dusky pink in the spring.

And so that is everything on my spring wish list.. for now! I think it is clear to see that white is definitely a firm favourite within my wardrobe right now haha!
Is there anything you are currently lusting after? Or have you made a cheeky splurge just like myself? Let me know in the comments below! Until next time,

What has caught your eye this season?!

The Fashion Trends You Need To Buy Into

Monday, March 7, 2016

Although some areas of the UK have suffered with snow this past weekend, I'm still excitedly awaiting for when the time finally comes to ditch my big winter coat for bomber jackets and pretty kimonos. But what exactly is it that is considered 'on trend' this spring and summer season? Well the catwalk gods have spoken and here is a round up of the trends you NEED to invest into this season.

Before we get into today's post, I also just wanted to share a little bit of a life update with you guys! I haven't been as active on my blog or social media the past couple of weeks as I've had a lot of university work to be getting along with. If you weren't already aware, I am studying International Fashion Promotion at university and this term my promotion unit involves producing a fashion magazine and in my group, I'm actually the editor so I have a lot of articles to be writing, marking and overall producing content that I can't post onto to my blog. The deadline is in a couple of weeks from now so I'm super excited for things to get back to normal on Clarke Couture soon with my usual two posts a week (Monday and Friday) rather than just the measly one I've had the time for recently. I want to be proud of my content, I could probably post more but it would be rushed and meaningless. Roll on May when my summer officially begins and I can post content to my hearts content.

If you're also feeling a little bit at a loss with balancing your blog with work and other social commitments, I recently posted my advice on re-gaining your focus and balancing your time. Wish you can check out here and here if you wish.

What trend report would be complete without stripes? Stripes are of course a universally loved trend and this season it's all about incorporating them into your outfits with a touch of 'sports luxe.' This doesn't mean dress head to toe in Adidas workout wear and fool your friends you actually go to the gym... (Well I suppose you could if you wanted too.. Haha!) But learn to sport your stripes in a relaxed manner with a little 'tomboy' edge.

Pair loose fitted crop tops, bomber jackets (The bomber is set to be a HUGE trend this season - With selling 25,000 of them in January alone!!) and Adidas originals with cigarette trousers for an edgy yet sporty looking vibe. Complete the look with minimal, dewy make-up and a high pony tail or french plaits. Minimal accessorising is key.

Remember those metallic gold lips created by Pat McGrath which graced the runway at Prada, taking the beauty and fashion world alike by storm?! Well this season, it isn't just your make-up that will be gracing those metallic hues. Maximalism is key, go bold or go home in an array of deep silver and rustic gold hues.

Take inspiration from Lowe with minimal accessorising, a basic tee and metallic disco pants to really let those metallics steal the show. A little afraid to go bold? Look no further than Dries Van Noten, a classic white polo shirt embroidered with a metallic neckline. Vogue suggest pairing with monochromatic tones to really let that shimmer pop.

Miniature feminine florals , intricate embroidery and petite ruffles make up this trend. To further embrace your inner bohemian goddess, go full frontal with paisley printed blouses and edgy fringing. If fringed tops are a little out of your comfort zone, take inspiration Vogue suggest pairing with extravagantly embellished accessories to embrace the new 'wild wild west' feel surrounding fashion right now.

Match 'lived in' leather jackets and cowboy boots with midi skirts and rouched, floral printed blouses to add a feminine twist on the wild wild west mood. Finish with a fedora and braids to embrace this 'boho' vibe.

Confidence is sexy and there's nothing wrong with looking like you know it all either. Embrace your inner geek with crisp white shirts and v-neck sweaters. Choosing a sweater with a stripe (as seen on Prada) adds a subtle sporty feel to your look. Vogue suggest accessorising with glasses for 'swotty' yet cute finish to your outfit.

Layer white shirts with a statement pop of colour within a v-neck sweater for an uber cute appeal. Pair with either ankle grazed trousers or a pleated midi skirt and in the recommendation of Vogue finish with 'granny' flats for a vintage revival finish. Look to Gucci for inspiration. Old school is so classically new this season.

Ugh, how gorgeous is this rainbow Chlo√® maxi dress?! They are killing it with their looks this season! And although around 80% of you are probably sighing in disapproval at the thought of turning away from your beloved blacks, whites, greys and nudes; colour is most definitely in this season. If you're often one to shy away from colour, pair a bold block colour tee (hot pink and orange would look gorgeous with a tan!) with an all white outfit to really let that colour pop.

Colour doesn't have to be over the top. Pair an all black or all white outfit or even go monochrome with a multicoloured, crystal statement necklace. As suggested by Vogue, you can never go wrong with pointed flats which feature a pop of colour and Bionda Castana offer the perfect pair. To play it safe, let your accessories do the talking.

Who says rock can't be refined, pretty with a clear feminine direction?! This season unleash your inner Saint Laurent by accessorising your outfit with a tiara. If you would rather keep your princess tiara hidden away alongside your invisible angel halo.. *queue laughter* then the Pandora princess ring would add the prettiest, subtle touch of 'sassy queen' to your outfit.

Vogue recommend looking to designers such as Haider Ackermann who paired a romantic, frilly blouse with leather biker-esque trousers. For a more subtle approach, Louboutin flats embellished with silver spikes add a punk edge to any outfit. If blouses aren't your thing, mix lace and leather for an approach filled with sex appeal. They don't call it sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll for no reason!

Don't let your jackets be the distraction from your pretty, put together outfit. Let them add depth, dimension and get people talking. As spring approaches, light weight bombers and classic blazers add style, edge and class to any outfit. A favourite of mine this season has to be the ZARA floral embroidered bomber jacket, with the prettiest back detailing let's pray this beauty comes back in stock sharpish!

And so there you have it. The catwalk gods have well and truly delivered us with a mighty feast of looks this season. And I am certainly feeling hungry for a much needed shop!
