New Years Resolutions

Saturday, December 31, 2016

Another year is finally over. Another story closes as a new novel begins, ready and awaiting for you to open its first pages tomorrow.

As much as I generally dislike January as a month, (I find it too much of a disappointing comedown after a month filled with parties, festivities and joy!) I do however, love the idea of a fresh new start. And if you've been following my blog for a while now you will know that a fresh start is something I have been yearning for these past few months. With the changes already being slowly implemented into my blog, (new template, improved photo quality and a new style of content) I cannot wait to finally wipe the slate clean and start anew regarding everything in my life right now.

2016 for me was certainly a year filled with highs and of course lows. And when the highs were high, they were some of the highest I've ever experienced. I went on my first ever plane journey, went back and visited my favourite city, (London, of course!) completed my first year of university with a first, worked with some lovely companies through my blog, started an internship and overall embarked on some great new adventures and let so many amazing new people into my life along the way. But when I had lows, they really were the rock bottom kind. A lot happened in my personal life which I'd rather not share online but I'm trying to view the entering of a new year as the perfect way to put all of the rubbish behind me and wipe the slate entirely clean.

Of course, once again I am embracing my favourite ever fashion trend to come out of 2016; embroidered florals. As the saying goes "A flower does not compete with the flower next to it. It simply blooms." Which I find to be the perfect affirmation and mindset for me to take forward into the new year with me. And thus, what better way to embrace this than to wear floral e'rythang 24/7.. Well, that's how I'm attempting to justify yet another floral outfit...

These jeans are such a statement piece and I can see me getting so much more wear out of them during the spring months. They are perfect for adding that extra touch of effort to such a simple everyday outfit, as I have styled them in this post. Or, I can already envision how perfect they are going to look with a flowing cami and platform heels in the spring. I'm in love!

And with that affirmation in mind, here are my goals for 2017:

  • Don't be afraid to put an end to toxic relationships.
  • Learn more about photography.
  • Start going back to the gym again and get into shape.
  • Travel more.
  • Don't conform to things that you are not comfortable with doing. Only say 'yes' to an opportunity that feels right.
  • Secure a fashion marketing placement.
  • Stop being so hard on myself. Everything happens for a reason. If it doesn't happen then it simply wasn't meant to be.
  • Attend my first blog event.
  • Reach 1,000 Bloglovin'/Insta followers and 2,000 Twitter followers.

A mixed bunch, I know! But I decided to cover some goals surrounding pretty much every part of my life. To read about more of my long term goals, you can check out my 30 before 30 bucket list here.

Turning Twenty!

Monday, December 19, 2016

Last Friday I turned 20. Yes me, twenty years old.. really! I can't quite believe it myself. I've learned a lot from my teenage years and I'm looking forward to embracing my twenties and everything that they have to offer. But at the same time.. I'm also seriously so not ready to 'adult'.

Knowing that the next 10 years are the lead up until 30 is pretty damn scary. Life truly is so short. In today's post, I thought it would be nice to share with you all my 30 before 30 bucket list. Knowing me, this no doubt will change numerous times over the next 10 years. But for now, here's what I hope to achieve...

  1. Travel - There's so many places I want to visit. Santorini, LA, New York, Iceland.. the list goes on and on! By 30 I hope to have knocked some of these places off of my bucket list.
  2. Buy a house.
  3. Graduate university with at least a 2:1
  4. Have a job within the fashion industry.
  5. Release my own lipstick collection.
  6. Write and release a children's book.
  7. Become a freelance photographer.
  8. Learn to drive...
  9. ...And buy a car!
  10. Visit Coco Chanel's home in Paris.
  11. Attend Fashion Week in all 4 cities.
  12. See a fashion show on the front row.
  13. Start a YouTube Channel.
  14. Get into shape and tone up.
  15. Run a 5k colour run.
  16. Take my mum to Harry Potter World in Orlando, Florida.
  17. Learn another language fluently.
  18. Go on a hot air balloon ride.
  19. Do something good for charity.
  20. Go on a helicopter ride.
  21. Ride an elephant.
  22. Overcome my fear of being under water and swim with dolphins.
  23. Get a tattoo.
  24. Go glamping.
  25. Go to New York at Christmas.
  26. Dye my hair - I've genuinely never ever added another colour to my hair. It's all au naturale. Maybe one day I'll add some highlights, who knows?!
  27. Ride a jetski.
  28. Attend a beach party/beach bonfire.
  29. Own a Chloè Drew bag - A girl can dream, right?!
  30. Spend an entire day saying 'yes' to everything.

And so that is everything I want to do before turning 30. I'll admit, some of my goals are definitely very far reaching but hey, I've got 10 years to complete them!

I truly did have such a lovely twentieth birthday. I spent the day being indulged in presents by my family, treated like a true princess with of course, a princess birthday cake and a tiara to match. I also cannot believe that Christmas is this week, where has this year even gone?! Do you have anything special planned for the big day?
Until next time,

What goals are on your bucket list?!

A Day At The Manchester Christmas Markets

Saturday, December 17, 2016

When you think of Christmas in Manchester, I'm pretty sure that the very first thing that comes to mind is the infamous German Christmas markets.

After spending practically the past week bed bound and full of a cold, I was so excited to finally recover and get into the festive spirit. Me and my boyfriend headed down to the Christmas markets for a day of pigging out on nutella filled crepes and buying unnecessary bric a brac style goodies.

If you are able to visit the Christmas Markets and leave without indulging in any of the food choices available then I take my hat off to you because that must involve a serious amount of willpower. With an array of cakes, fudges, hot dogs, burgers and then of course.. nutella coated everything; it's pretty impossible to resist! The hot chocolates were dreamy too, topped with marshmallows, whipped cream and a flake; I was in heaven! Although, unfortunately for me the cream decided to drip everywhere, making it pretty much impossible to capture that perfect Instagram worthy shot.

I just love the festive feeling that surrounds the air at the markets. With everyone excitedly indulging in seasonal treats and buying as many unnecessary last minute Christmas tree decorations as possible, there truly is nothing like the hustle and bustle of a true festive city market.

I wish I had more photos to share with you all. I'm still quite shy when it comes to shooting in busy locations. Improving my confidence and producing more outfit shots in the city is definitely something I want to work upon next year. Nevertheless, I hope you have enjoyed this short yet sweet insight into my day at this year's markets. I cannot believe that Christmas is now just 8 days away! And if you're still not feeling festive, head to the markets, treat yourself with some mulled wine and you'll be sure to be feeling merry in no time!

What are you most excited about for Christmas this year?!

Festive Peppermint & White Chocolate Bark

Sunday, December 11, 2016

Chocolate bark is seriously my favourite thing ever to make. It requires no baking, takes no more than 10 minutes and the options are seriously endless. Last month I shared with you all the recipe for my Autumnal themed bark; infused with peanut butter, salted caramel fudge bites and sprinkled with a dusting of cinnamon. You all seemed to love it (I can't blame you, it was delicious - Ha!) and so I thought, why not create a festive edition?!

What you will need:

  • 2 bars of white baking chocolate.
  • 2 candy canes
  • Iced snowflakes
  • Golden crunch bites
  • Salted caramel fudge bites
  • Glitter cake spray

How to make:
  1. Fill a pan with cold water and place onto the hob to boil.
  2. Break up the bars of white chocolate into a bowl and place on top of the pan to melt as the water begins to boil.
  3. Line a baking tray with foil as the chocolate begins to melt.
  4. Once melted, apply a smooth and even layer onto the tray, when you have used up all of the chocolate; it's time to get decorating!
  5. Crush up the two candy canes using a pestle and mortar then sprinkle evenly across the melted chocolate mix.
  6. To garnish further I added golden crunch and salted caramel bites, iced snowflakes. Then finally completing the look by spraying with a silver glitter cake spray. I found these in my local ASDA but feel free to garnish with anything you like. I favoured for anything gold and silver, just get your masterpiece looking as festive as possible!
  7. Finally, leave in the fridge to set. Then, cut into square pieces and ta-dah! Eat and enjoy!

And it's that simple! The perfect festive snack, easily made in just 5 quick steps. I'm also seriously candy cane mad at the moment. T'is the season for peppermint infused mochas and I love it!
